Basketball Recap: Soledad's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

After a string of five wins, Soledad's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 60-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Francis Sharks. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Aztecs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 69-61 back in January.

Several Aztecs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Pedro Morales Jr, who went 8 of 20 en route to 19 points. Another player making a difference was Pablo Morales Iv, who posted 14 points along with eight boards and five assists.

Even though they lost, Soledad smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.7 offensive boards per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 11.1.

Soledad's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-10. As for St. Francis, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.

Soledad will venture away from home to challenge Pacific Collegiate at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Soledad is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.6 points per game this season. As for St. Francis, they will host Gonzales at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Gonzales has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with four straight defeats, while St. Francis will come in with 11 straight wins.
