The Northwestern Trojans had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 42.7 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat South Pointe 64-31 at home. The result was nothing new for Northwestern, who have now won eight games by 25 points or more so far this season.
Leading Northwestern to victory were Finley Polk and Turbo Richard. Polk threw for 246 yards and three touchdowns, while Richard rushed for 184 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per carry. Richard was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards. Jaylen Burris was another key contributor, picking up 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Despite the loss, South Pointe still got an impressive performance from Mason Picket-Hicks, who rushed for 165 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Turner, who rushed for 50 yards and two touchdowns.
Northwestern's victory was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-1. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 39 points. As for South Pointe, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Northwestern will head out on the road to face off against Catawba Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Catawba Ridge has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since August 18th. As for South Pointe, they will be playing in front of their home fans against York at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (York is ranked 34th, while South Pointe is ranked 14th).
