The Stroud Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Warner Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Stroud is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
Stroud is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 17-5 margin over Pawnee on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won four matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Cal Shields was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs but no hits. Stroud is undefeated when Shields allowstwo or fewer hits, but 1-2 otherwise. Shields was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-4. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game.

In other batting news, Jessen Leathers was a standout: he scored four runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Stroud's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Stryker Bray was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.
Stroud always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pawnee only posted an OBP of .360.
Meanwhile, Warner won against Okemah on Tuesday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Warner skirted past Central 8-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Jon Brown was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those hits marked the first that he got this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Memphis Swimmer, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Stroud's record is now 4-2. As for Warner, they now have a winning record of 3-2-1.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Stroud has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .469. However, it's not like Warner struggles in that department as they've averaged .485. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Stroud suffered a grim 18-2 defeat to Warner when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can Stroud avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
