Softball Recap: Mount Juliet Wins Going Away Against Beech

Mount Juliet got themselves on the board against Beech on Tuesday, but Beech never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Buccaneers. The result was nothing new for the Golden Bears, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Beech's batters probably weren't too happy with Ashlyn Elliott, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 18 Ks (she gave up four walks). Those 18 strikeouts gave Elliott a new career-high.

At the plate, Annalise Mecklenberg and Kendall Bucher did most of the damage at the plate: Mecklenberg scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Bucher went 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run marked the first that Bucher launched this season. Another player making a difference was Chloe Younggren, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

The victory made it two in a row for Mount Juliet and bumps their season record up to 7-3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Beech, their loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-6.

Mount Juliet has already played their next game, a 7-5 victory against Varsity Opponent on the 26th. As for Beech, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 6-3 win against Hendersonville on the 27th.
