The Viera Hawks will challenge the Astronaut War Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Viera 4.1, Astronaut 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Wednesday, Viera made easy work of St. Mary's and carried off an 8-2 victory. Considering the Hawks have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Viera got a great performance from Isabella Kapatoes as she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched.
At the plate, Tori Berry was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Rylan Cozzie Cozzolino, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Astronaut had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Sharks.
Riley Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Arielys Rosado, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ciara Vansky, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Astronaut's win bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Viera, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
Both Viera and Astronaut just can't seem to miss. The Hawks have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Astronaut struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
