West Hills hasn't had much luck against Santana recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Wolf Pack are taking a road trip to square off against the Sultans at 4:00 p.m. West Hills' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Santana's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
West Hills is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Mira Mesa.
Ava Goodman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Maddie Aylesbury made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Santana came out on top against Helix on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. The Sultans took their match against the Highlanders 8-4. Surprisingly, this marked the Sultans' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Emma Schneider was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was McKenna Miller, who went 2-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI.
The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 10-7-1. As for Santana, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.
Santana's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. West Hills has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Santana, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will West Hills keep running through batters, or will the Sultans buck the trend?
