Austin-East is 0-10 against Gatlinburg-Pittman since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Last Friday, everything came up roses for Austin-East at home against Eagleton College & Career Academy as the squad secured a 62-26 win. The victory was just what Austin-East needed coming off of a 63-41 loss in their prior match.
Austin-East's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ja'onna Witt, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Witt has scored all season. Michala Stevenson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight steals and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Gatlinburg-Pittman entered their tilt with McMinn Central with 18 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 19. Gatlinburg-Pittman escaped with a win on Monday against McMinn Central by the margin of a single free throw, 76-75.
Austin-East's win bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Gatlinburg-Pittman, they pushed their record up to 27-2 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Austin-East took a serious blow against Gatlinburg-Pittman in their previous matchup back in January, falling 78-34. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Austin-East was down 48-11.
