Washington has won three straight games at home, while Northside has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. The Eagles will welcome the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Washington 3, Northside 1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
One must be Washington's lucky number: they beat Kashmere with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Eagles didn't even let the Fighting Rams on the board, marking the Eagles' second-straight 1-0 shutout. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Meanwhile, Northside never let their opponents score last Monday. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over North Forest. Fans of the Panthers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Coco Hernandez made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Northside let Jesus Delosreyes and Jermy Castillo run wild. Delosreyes went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Castillo went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Castillo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Huerta, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Northside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .553 or higher in 12 consecutive matches.
Washington's victory bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Northside, their win bumped their record up to 16-0.
