The Shields Panthers can finally bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They came out on top against McKenzie by a score of 66-55. The win was just what Shields needed coming off of a 71-46 defeat in their prior matchup.
Shields got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Adrian Watts out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Watts continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dante Leffall, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Despite the loss, McKenzie still got an impressive performance from Jaylen Mcmillian, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Mcmillian hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Jay Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Shields' victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-12. As for McKenzie, they bumped their record down to 4-10 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shields will take on W.S. Neal at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for McKenzie, they will head out on the road to face off against Red Level at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Red Level knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully McKenzie likes a good challenge.
