Curtis Baptist proved they can win big on Friday (they won by three) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a set and slipped past the Jefferson Davis Academy Raiders 3-2. The win was nothing new for the Crusaders as they're now sitting on five straight.
Curtis Baptist had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 21-25, 23-25, 25-14, 25-20, 15-11.
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was MATTIE MORRIS, who had 24 digs, nine kills, three aces, and two blocks. RYNN FICKLING was another key player, getting 20 kills, eight digs, and seven aces.
Curtis Baptist's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Jefferson Davis Academy, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 10-8.
