The Marshall Owls will be playing at home against the Sweet Springs Greyhounds at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Marshall will be strutting in after a victory while Sweet Springs will be coming in after a defeat.
Even though Macon scored an imposing 69 points last Thursday, Marshall still came out on top. Marshall came out on top in a nail-biter against Macon and snuck past 71-69. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Marshall has posted yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marshall to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chase Thompson, who scored 18 points along with three steals. Thompson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Brody Kueker was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with four steals.
Sweet Springs suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 72-50 walloping at the hands of Brunswick. Sweet Springs has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Marshall's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Sweet Springs, they dropped their record down to 4-10 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Marshall against Sweet Springs when the teams last played back in December of 2016 as the squad secured a 63-35 win. Will Marshall repeat their success, or does Sweet Springs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
