The Pensacola Christian Academy Warriors were the 70-31 winner over the Bayside Academy Admirals when they last played one another back in January of 2016, but their luck changed this time around. Pensacola Christian Academy ended up on the wrong side of a tough 71-49 walloping at the hands of Bayside Academy on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Pensacola Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 503rd in Florida, while Bayside Academy is ranked 173rd in Alabama).
Pensacola Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Matthew Johnson, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds. The game was Johnson's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Quincy Williams was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with three steals.
Pensacola Christian Academy bumped their record down to 5-4 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Bayside Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pensacola Christian Academy will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Baker at 6:15 p.m. on January 4th. Baker has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Bayside Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against UMS-Wright Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
