The Denver South Ravens will challenge the Monarch Coyotes at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Denver South is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Denver South lost 11-2 to Discovery Canyon on Saturday.
Ricardo Martinez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Monarch came up short against Denver North on Saturday and fell 10-5. The Coyotes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Max Webb put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs.
In other pitching news, Monarch got a good showing from Logan Uhlenhake, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Uhlenhake has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Charlie Pearce was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Blake Thompson, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.
Denver South's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Monarch, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Denver South has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Monarch struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Denver South might still be hurting after the 19-0 defeat they got from Monarch in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Ravens avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
