Softball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Advanced Math & Science Academy

Advanced Math & Science Academy waltzed into their matchup on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They put the hurt on the Montachusett RVT Bulldogs with a sharp 16-5 victory. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs, too.

Ava McLeod made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophia Hammell, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Guilamina Yost was another key player, going 3-for-4 with six RBI.

Advanced Math & Science Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive games.

Advanced Math & Science Academy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Montachusett RVT, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Advanced Math & Science Academy will welcome Westborough at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Montachusett RVT, they will be playing at home against Oakmont Regional at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
