While losing is never fun, Hunters Lane can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 360th, while Cane Ridge is ranked 78th).
When it comes to explaining why Hunters Lane lost, one person who can't be blamed is Michael Small. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Isaiah McGill was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
Cane Ridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaiden Pugh, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Avyion Mccleton, who scored 15 points along with seven assists and four steals.
Hunters Lane dropped their record down to 2-14 with that loss, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Cane Ridge, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hunters Lane will take on Antioch at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Antioch knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Hunters Lane likes a good challenge. As for Cane Ridge, they will head out on the road to challenge Hillsboro at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hillsboro has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 526 points over their last eight matches.
