The Berkeley Yellowjackets will challenge the Castro Valley Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Berkeley will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs back in March, then bounced right back against Tennyson on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets blew past the Lancers 21-2. The Yellowjackets have beaten the Lancers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Lancers has come to flipping the script.
June Shaller and Olive Lightfoot made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Shaller tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Lightfoot tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Shaller scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while Lightfoot scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Back at the plate, Berkeley let Camil Babij Ross and Rosa Sueaga run wild. Babij Ross scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Sueaga scored three runs while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Kaufman, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Berkeley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .625. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Castro Valley). Everything went their way against Arroyo on Wednesday as they made off with a 16-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.
Alanys Robertson made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Robertson was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, five runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Zaylee Gutierrez was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those doubles were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kailey Armstrong, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Castro Valley's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Berkeley, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Berkeley was able to grind out a solid victory over Castro Valley in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 7-3. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
