After having lost a blowout in their  previous game against Futures, Encina was happy to have turned things around  on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Victory Christian Vikings by a score of  3-1. That's more bragging rights for the Bulldogs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
 Encina had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-12, 25-17,  25-13.
 Sarah Cowley paced Encina's offense, picking up six kills. Cowley got some help from  Nyla Pomtong and her 20 assists. Cowley was also solid from the service line:  she led the team with seven aces.
Encina's  win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 7-10. As for Victory Christian, they dropped their record down to 2-8 with the  loss, which was their third straight  at home.
 We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Encina will  take on  rival Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning  at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Meanwhile, Victory Christian is set to  challenge  their familiar foe Sacramento Waldorf  at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
