On Friday, the Eldorado Golden Eagles faced the Cleveland Storm in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Eldorado enjoyed a cozy 53-38 victory over Cleveland. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Eldorado also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Bella Hines was her usual excellent self, scoring 37 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Eldorado's points. Another player making a difference was Chioma Holyfield, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Eldorado's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.2 points per game. As for Cleveland, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eldorado won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Rio Rancho at 2:30 p.m. on January 13th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Rio Rancho is ranked tenth, while Eldorado is ranked eighth). Cleveland won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Gallup at 1:00 p.m. on January 13th.
