After a string of six wins, the Chatfield Chargers's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were outmatched by Valor Christian at home and fell 79-32. Chatfield has struggled against Valor Christian recently, as their game on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Chatfield lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jaden Lodice, who scored four points along with three steals. Lodice has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Audrey Hubbell, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Valor Christian found their leader in underclassman Peyton Jones, who scored 26 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Quinn Vansickle was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six assists.
Chatfield's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-4. As for Valor Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chatfield will take on Arvada West at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Arvada West focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Friday. As for Valor Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Columbine at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbine has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
