After flying high against the Baxter Springs Lions last Friday, the Columbus Titans came back down to earth. Columbus took a 57-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of College Heights Christian. Columbus was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as College Heights Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Columbus' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Katy Mooney, who scored 14 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Mooney has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Harman, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Columbus now has a losing record at 4-5. As for College Heights Christian, the win got them back to even at 6-6-1.
Columbus on the road again on Friday and play against Baxter Springs at 4:00 p.m. on January 19th. Baxter Springs is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for College Heights Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against New Covenant Academy at 6:00 p.m. New Covenant Academy is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
