The South Allegheny Gladiators''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They took a 42-27 bruising from Mt. Pleasant. South Allegheny lost against Mt. Pleasant in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 42-0 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why South Allegheny lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cameron Epps. Despite the final result, he rushed for 202 yards and three touchdowns. Tyreeke Chatman was another key contributor, rushing for 82 yards.
South Allegheny's loss was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.9 points per game. As for Mt. Pleasant, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
South Allegheny will head out on the road to face off against Greensburg Salem at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Pennsylvania (Greensburg Salem is ranked 459th, while South Allegheny is ranked 442nd). As for Mt. Pleasant, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Southmoreland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Southmoreland will be hoping to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
