The Wolves are a perfect 5-0 against the Lions since August of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Wolves proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Bears 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolves have posted since August 24, 2024.
The Wolves wouldn't go down easily and took the Bears into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. The final score came out to 25-15, 23-25, 15-25, 25-18, 15-9.

The Wolves' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daniela Macias, who had 18 kills, 11 digs, and two aces. Macias has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 19 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Khobie Magana, who had nine digs and four aces.
They weren't the only good servers: the Wolves was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, the Lions made easy work of the Ambassadors on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Ambassadors: they've now won seven in a row.
The Lions not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept the Ambassadors between 15 and 17 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-17, 25-15.
The Wolves better keep an eye on Genesis Ortez. She was instrumental in the Lions' win, getting 11 digs and four aces. That's the most aces Ortez has posted over her last six matchups.
The Wolves' record now sits at 17-8-2. As for the Lions, their record is now 6-11.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's match: The Wolves have really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.8 aces per game. However, it's not like the Lions struggle in that department as they've been averaging 6.3 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went the Wolves' way against the Lions in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the Wolves made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
