The Churchill County Greenwave won the last time they faced the Elko Indians, and things went their way on Friday too. Churchill County walked away with a 45-32 victory over Elko. The win made it back-to-back wins for Churchill County.
Churchill County found their leader in underclassman Jada Anastasio, who scored 25 points along with two steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Anastasio has scored at least a third of Churchill County's points. Another player making a difference was Zoey Jarrett, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Several Indians players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Roxanne Keim, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaylen Garity, who scored nine points.
Churchill County's victory bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Elko, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.
Churchill County on the road again on Saturday and play against Spring Creek at 1:00 p.m. on January 27th. As for Elko, they will be playing at home against Lowry at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lowry presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Elko in Nevada (Lowry is ranked seventh, while Elko is ranked 44th).
