Monrovia has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Greencastle Tiger Cubs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Monrovia focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Wednesday.
Last Wednesday, Monrovia came up short against South Putnam and fell 58-51.
Monrovia's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Emery Newlin, who scored 22 points along with seven steals and six rebounds, and Mary Cox who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Newlin has scored all season.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Greencastle's good fortune finally ran out last Friday. They took a 59-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Putnam.
Greencastle's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Alexandra Dobbs, who scored 18 points along with three steals, and Bailey Brown who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Dobbs is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Madi Plew was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Monrovia's record now sits at 10-9. As for Greencastle, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-12.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's game: Monrovia have been dynamite from deep this season, having only nailed 34.8% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Greencastle, though, as they've only drained 32.2% of their threes per game this season. Given Monrovia's sizeable advantage in that area, Greencastle will need to find a way to close that gap.
Monrovia suffered a grim 64-38 defeat to Greencastle in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Monrovia, Gloria Brewer (who scored 31 points along with eight rebounds and five assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
