Even though the Auburn Rockets scored an imposing 67 points on Thursday, the Millbury Woolies still came out on top. Millbury skirted past Auburn 70-67. Given Millbury's advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Auburn is ranked 221st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kenny Donnelly was his usual excellent self, scoring 32 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Anthony Phillipo, who scored 13 points.
Millbury's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Auburn, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.
Millbury will be playing at home against Nantucket at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Auburn, they will head out on the road to face off against Uxbridge at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Uxbridge is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
