This season hasn't been kind to the KIPP P Pride, who are still winless after their fifth game. They were dealt a 59-7 loss at the hands of Roanoke Rapids on Thursday. KIPP P has not had much luck with Roanoke Rapids recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Leading Roanoke Rapids to victory were Kayla Whitfield and Shaniah Daniels. Whitfield dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Daniels dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds. Daniels set a new season high mark in steals with eight. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Bednarczyk, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.
KIPP P bumped their record down to 0-5 with that loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Roanoke Rapids, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. KIPP P will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wilson Prep at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Wilson Prep is ranked 574th, while KIPP P is ranked 591st). Roanoke Rapids won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Southern Nash at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th.
