The Rush City Tigers lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Friday was a bit more commanding. They suffered a tough 75-51 defeat at the hands of Mountain Iron-Buhl. While losing is never fun, Rush City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 374th, while Mountain Iron-Buhl is ranked 80th).
Leading Mountain Iron-Buhl to victory were Tj Duchamp and Chris King. Duchamp scored 27 points along with seven assists and four steals, while King dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. Duchamp hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Dylan Anderson, who scored four points along with six assists and two steals.
Rush City's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-12. As for Mountain Iron-Buhl, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
Rush City and Hinckley-Finlayson will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Mountain Iron-Buhl, Mountain Iron-Buhl and Cass Lake-Bena will face off at 5:45 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Cass Lake-Bena knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 contests -- so hopefully Mountain Iron-Buhl likes a good challenge.
