Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to post 11 more assists than your opponent, a fact the Metrolina Christian Academy Warriors proved on Tuesday. They came out on top against Gaston Christian by a score of 53-43. This was payback for Metrolina Christian Academy, who suffered a 34-31 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Alaina Griffin was her usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 25 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Metrolina Christian Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Jenna Carlson, who scored eight points along with 14 rebounds and three steals.
Happy Arune and Jessica Williams certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Arune dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds, while Williams dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Arune is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 14 games she's played. Rowan Haston was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Metrolina Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Gaston Christian, their loss was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-12.
Metrolina Christian Academy will take on the Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Hickory Grove Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday. Gaston Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
