TEACH's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Hampton Christian Academy an easy 51-25 win. While losing is never fun, TEACH can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while Hampton Christian Academy is ranked 35th).
It was another big night for Mikaela Lee, who dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 14 rebounds, and ten steals for Hampton Christian Academy. The game was Lee's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mahdy Sigler, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
TEACH's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-3. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.3 points per game. As for Hampton Christian Academy, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
TEACH will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Central Virginia HomeSchool Athletic Association at 1:00 p.m. on January 6, 2024. After both having extra time off, Hampton Christian Academy and Portsmouth Christian will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 5:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
