Baseball Game Preview: St. Elizabeth Hornets vs. Vienna Eagles

St. Elizabeth is 7-2 against Vienna since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Hornets are taking a road trip to face off against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. St. Elizabeth is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.

On Friday, St. Elizabeth beat Eugene 6-3.

Eli Kemna made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Kemna was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Aiden Otto looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Carter Reinkemeyer was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Kyson Green, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Vienna put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They beat Prairie Home by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 13-3. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by ten runs or more this season.

St. Elizabeth now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Vienna, their record now sits at 5-0.

St. Elizabeth got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in March of 2025 against Vienna by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
