The Rincon/University Rangers came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against Cholla as Rincon/University made off with a 50-24 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Rincon/University has posted since December 5, 2023.
It was another big night for Leila O'Dowd, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Rincon/University's points. Sabrina Wexler was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Rincon/University's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-10. As for Cholla, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.
Rincon/University will be playing at home against Sunnyside at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Sunnyside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday. As for Cholla, they will head out on the road to face off against Desert View at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Desert View comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 16 points in their last eight games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
