The Barnwell Warhorses lost against the Ridgeland-Hardeeville Jaguars back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Barnwell fell to the Jaguars 56-52. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Barnwell in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite the loss, Barnwell saw an underclassman step up: Vashahd Scofield scored 24 points. Scofield is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Henri Creech, who scored ten points.
Ridgeland-Hardeeville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jabien Harris led the charge by scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Harris is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kalen Riddles, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Barnwell has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Ridgeland-Hardeeville, their victory bumped their record up to 6-12.
Barnwell will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wolverines at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Woodland presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Warhorses in South Carolina (the Wolverines are ranked 64th, while the Warhorses are ranked 245th). As for Ridgeland-Hardeeville, they will head out on the road to challenge the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Edisto has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 4.
