Sunnyslope has been on the road for five straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Boulder Creek Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sunnyslope knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Boulder Creek likes a good challenge.
Last Thursday, Sunnyslope faced O'Connor in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Sunnyslope walked away with a 76-66 win over O'Connor. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sunnyslope to victory, but perhaps none more so than Delton Prescott, who scored 19 points along with two steals. Prescott continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rider Portela, who scored 13 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Boulder Creek pushed their score all the way to 62 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 70-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pinnacle. Boulder Creek found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and rack up ten fewer assists than your opponent.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jackson Auditya, who scored 16 points. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Andrew Bhesania, who scored 13 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Sunnyslope pushed their record up to 14-4 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Boulder Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Sunnyslope have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 27.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Boulder Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 26.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Sunnyslope strolled past Boulder Creek when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 69-50. Will Sunnyslope repeat their success, or does Boulder Creek have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
