Basketball Recap: Metamora Drops Season-High Score on Prairie Central

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Metamora). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Prairie Central Hawks 65-29. Given the Redbirds' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Hawks are ranked 495th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayla Hammond, who posted 13 points and three steals. Anna Cutrell was another key player, putting up seven points and eight rebounds.

Metamora now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Prairie Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Metamora wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 62-60 defeat against Morris on the 21st. As for Prairie Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-37 loss against Joliet Catholic on the 21st.
