Baseball Recap: Normal Community Extends Winning Streak to 11

Normal Community entered their tilt with Peoria on Friday with ten consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 11. They put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Ironmen, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Holden Baldwin was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Ethan VanOpdorp was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Normal Community always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Peoria only posted an OBP of .250.

Normal Community pushed their record up to 25-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Peoria, they are on a 32-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-20.

Coming up, Normal Community will venture away from home to square off against East Moline United at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Ironmen surely won't give up without a fight. As for Peoria, they will face off against Peoria Notre Dame at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lions are facing the Irish at the right time seeing as the Irish are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
