The Southern Alamance Patriots had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They rang in the new year with a 55-48 win over Cedar Ridge. Given Southern Alamance's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while Cedar Ridge is ranked 565th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southern Alamance to victory, but perhaps none more so than Liam Forester, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Moore, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Southern Alamance is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Cedar Ridge, their loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-11.
Southern Alamance will take on Person at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cedar Ridge, they will be playing at home against Chatham Central at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Chatham Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Cedar Ridge likes a good challenge.
