The McCurdy Bobcats will square off against the Wingate Bears at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
McCurdy will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Logan on Friday. The Bobcats blew past the Longhorns 16-1. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Bobcats this season.

Gabriela Velasquez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 11 matches.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mariana Arambula, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Amanda Tafoya was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
McCurdy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Wingate came tearing into Tuesday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Skyhawks as they made off with a 22-12 win. The Bears' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Wingate pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for McCurdy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-14.
Everything went McCurdy's way against Wingate in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as McCurdy made off with a 16-6 win. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
