Meanwhile, while Richmond put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Southern Lee. Richmond blew past Southern Lee 16-0. The high-scoring effort was just what the Raiders needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Madee Pearson looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in earned runs (zero).
On the hitting side, Jakayla Steele was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Pinecrest hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .343. However, it's not like Richmond struggles in that department as they've averaged .367. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pinecrest was able to grind out a solid win over Richmond when the teams last played back in March, winning 12-9. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pinecrest since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
