A well-balanced attack led Port St. Lucie over Bayside in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Port St. Lucie blew Bayside out of the water with a 74-38 final score. With Port St. Lucie ahead 43-20 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Port St. Lucie's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Makhari Chambliss led the charge by scoring 24 points along with three steals. Chambliss is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Rodriguez, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Satellite had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They really took it to Merritt Island for the full four quarters, racking up a 83-51 win at home. Satellite's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Satellite can attribute much of their success to Zander Tantius, who scored 23 points, and Michael Otero, who went 7 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 3 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Otero has scored all season. Jack Knight was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Port St. Lucie's victory bumped their record up to 19-7. As for Satellite, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-5.
Thursday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Port St. Lucie have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 44% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Satellite struggles in that department as they've made 50.4% of their threes this season.
