Given Blue Valley West's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Mustangs are ranked 54th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, St. James Academy came up short against the Mustangs on Friday and fell 58-46. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for St. James Academy in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now lost four in a row.
Blue Valley West's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. As for St. James Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.
Blue Valley West came up short against the Thunder in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 64-55.
