Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 11 to 2 on the offensive boards, a fact the Kanab Cowboys proved on Tuesday. They walked away with a 62-52 win over North Sevier. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Kanab also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Leading Kanab to victory were Kyle Brown and Cash Mortensen. Brown scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Mortensen scored 22 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Mortensen is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of James Quinn, who scored five points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, North Sevier still got an impressive performance from Greyson Bennett, who went 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points and 1 assist. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bennett has scored all season. Rylan Frischknecht was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
North Sevier struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Kanab is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for North Sevier, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kanab will square off against Parowan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Sevier, they will head out on the road to square off against San Juan at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in San Juan's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups.
