Citrus recap Oct. 23, 2012
Calvary Christian Academy took down Borrego Springs 58-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Louie Rodriguez threw for 53 yards and one touchdown and ran for 72 yards in the win.
The Royal Knights led Citrus in scoring this week after putting up 58 points on the Rams. Rodriguez in the win.
Julian's dynamic duo of Hunter McConnell and Cole Southcott proved tough for San Pasqual Academy to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. McConnell threw for 141 yards and one touchdown and Southcott had 80 yards receiving. Kellen Regalado helped Julian's passing attack out by catching four balls for 42 yards.
Brandon Alexander provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Dragons topped the Eagles. He completed four passes for 20 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 241 yards. Alexander's favorite target this week was Micheal Bradshaw, who caught four passes for 20 yards.
Tamarquis Green made the biggest impact on defense this week as San Pasqual Academy bested Julian. The senior grabbed two sacks.
Tim White's team's McConnell and Tah Beresford have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. McConnell has thrown for 821 yards this season, while Beresford, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 12 catches for 325 yards. Calvary Christian Academy's Justin Harrison leads the league in rushing yards with 1364.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Gene Rheam's team takes on Classical Academy. As it stands, the Royal Knights are in first, while Classical Academy is in third.
The longest pass in the league this week came courtesy of the Eagles' McConnell. Julian fell to Rashiid Burgo's team when he connected with Southcott on a 80-yard throw and catch.
