The Smithville Seminoles can finally bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They came out on top against Hamilton by a score of 49-42. The win was just what Smithville needed coming off of a 52-32 defeat in their prior match.
Smithville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mikayla Wall, who scored 13 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sophie Hass, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Smithville's victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-13. As for Hamilton, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Smithville won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Aberdeen at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Aberdeen comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Hamilton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mantachie at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mantachie is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
