The Frostproof Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 44-20 defeat at the hands of Four Corners. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Frostproof in their matchups with Four Corners: they've now lost four in a row.
Frostproof lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sanyqua Sloan, who scored ten points. Shalayjah Robey was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Four Corners was led to victory by Mia Villanueva and Karina Cruz. Villanueva scored ten points along with eight rebounds and six steals, while Cruz scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. That's the first time this season that Villanueva pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Danielys Pena Ponce, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Frostproof's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Four Corners, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season.
Frostproof will head out on the road to square off against Lake Placid at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lake Placid's defense has only allowed 29.5 points per game this season, so Frostproof's offense will have their work cut out for them. Four Corners won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Mater Brighton Lakes Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 24th. Mater Brighton Lakes Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last ten games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
