Softball Recap: Patterson Mill Extends Winning Streak to 11

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Patterson Mill). Everything went their way against the Aberdeen Eagles on Friday as they made off with a 17-1 win. The victory was familiar territory for Patterson Mill, who have now won 11 games in a row.

Lily Baldwin made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Mackenzie Knight and Audrey March did most of the damage at the plate: Knight got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while March got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four stolen bases gave Knight a new career-high. Ellie Malenfant was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Patterson Mill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .625. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in nine consecutive contests.

Patterson Mill pushed their record up to 15-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Aberdeen, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Patterson Mill will have a chance to go back-to-back against Aberdeen: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
