Leuzinger waltzed into their contest on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They escaped with a win against the St. Monica Mariners by the margin of a single free throw, 61-60. This was payback for the Olympians, who suffered a 54-32 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Joshua Garland was his usual excellent self, going 5 for 11 on his way to 16 points and eight rebounds. Samu Moala was another key player, putting up nine points and six rebounds.

Leuzinger's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for St. Monica, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-4 record this season.

Leuzinger and Centennial will compete for holiday cheer at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Centennial's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. St. Monica will take on Animo Venice in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
