The Oswego East Wolves will venture away from home to challenge the Naperville Central Redhawks at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Oswego East has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Oswego East lost 13-2 to Oswego on Wednesday. The Wolves haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Olivia Owles made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Naperville Central waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Warriors.
Avery Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Riley Silvers and Cali Lenz did most of the damage at the plate: Silvers went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Lenz went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Natalie Lau was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Naperville Central's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-12. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Oswego East, their loss dropped their record down to 18-14.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Oswego East hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Naperville Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .332. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Oswego East came up short against Naperville Central when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 9-6. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
