After a string of five wins, the Douglas County Huskies's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Vista Ridge by a score of 72-69. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Douglas County has suffered yet this season.
Despite the loss, Douglas County still got an impressive performance from Sofia Baldessari, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Baldessari has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hanah Debelle, who scored 21 points.
Even though they lost, Douglas County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vista Ridge only pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.
Vista Ridge was led to victory by Brooklyn Kaiser and Jasmine Byers. Kaiser scored 24 points along with two steals, while Byers scored 15 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Byers also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Ashley Guiao was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
Douglas County's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-5. As for Vista Ridge, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Douglas County will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Ponderosa at 7:00 p.m. Ponderosa is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Vista Ridge, they will head out on the road to face off against Mesa Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
