Badger is 2-8 against Burlington since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Badgers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Demons at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Badger's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They put the hurt on Delavan-Darien with a sharp 6-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Badgers in their matchups with the Comets: they've now won four in a row.
Riley Lussmyer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Lussmyer was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Connor Kavanaugh looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Matthew O'Grady was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Gavin Stewart, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.
Badger kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Delavan-Darien only managed two hits.
Meanwhile, Burlington narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Kettle Moraine 8-6.
Like Badger, Burlington also got a great game from a two-way player: Trey Kerkhoff. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kerkhoff was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.
Kerkhoff wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mason Tomczyk, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Jake Dummer was another, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one RBI.
Badger came out on top in a nail-biter against Burlington when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 9-8. Will the Badgers repeat their success, or do the Demons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
