The Horseshoe Bend Mustangs had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They really took it to Greenleaf Friends Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 65-28 win on the road. That's another feather in the cap for Horseshoe Bend, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Horseshoe Bend to victory, but perhaps none more so than Porter Larson, who scored 18 points along with 5 steals. Layth Bromgard was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds.
Horseshoe Bend's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Greenleaf Friends Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Horseshoe Bend will take on Vision at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Greenleaf Friends Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Riverstone International at 7:30 p.m. on November 30th. Hopefully Riverstone International focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Monday.
